Posted February 13, 2018 05:30:07In an effort to promote female designers in India, a group of women from the Graphic Design Studio in New Delhi have launched a campaign called ‘I love my work’.
The campaign has been inspired by the work of women designers in the U.S. and the U, where they have launched campaigns on the front lines of the gender pay gap and women-specific issues.
In India, the proportion of women in graphic design is at an all-time low, said Anjan Biswas, the founder and chief creative officer at Graphic Design School.
In the U., which is also known for its high rate of female-to-male wage inequality, the percentage of women working in graphic designers has been increasing.
Biswas said he believes that this is partly because of the lack of a female-centric curriculum in graphic designs courses in India.
“We are seeing a huge shift in the way the education is being offered.
We are also seeing a change in the fashion of women,” he said.
“So now, women are being able to go to graphic design schools where they can learn about this subject, learn about design, learn how to do the job, how to create things, how they make money, how the job is done.”
Biswas said the women-focused graphic design school has had the largest number of female students enrolling in its classes this year, which is a big improvement.
The girls are also learning more about the industry and the job market.
“The demand for female designers is really high, so it is a good opportunity for girls to learn more about this job,” Biswas added.
While some students have taken a year off to travel to New York, and others are in the process of launching their own design businesses, all are focused on creating an image of the best in the field.
“This is a dream that all of us are striving for,” said student Rizwan Ahmed, adding that her father is the founder of the graphic design firm.
“I want to be able to make a living from it.”
For students like Mireen, this dream is just a step in the right direction.
“We have so much more to learn about the business side, the marketing side, how things work in the industry,” she said.
