Gartner says Microsoft ‘may be a one-off’ when it comes to the smartphone market

The global computer maker Gartners said on Wednesday that it has revised its smartphone estimates.

Gartner expects the smartphone sector to grow to $11.6 trillion in 2019, from $10.6tn last year.

It expects smartphone shipments to reach $7.7 trillion, up from $7tn in 2019.

The company said the smartphone shipments and gross margins will continue to grow at the same rate as the PC industry, with the PC segment expected to grow by 10% over the next five years, and the smartphone segment by 20% over that period.

Gartzner expects smartphone penetration to remain stable at about 80% by 2026.

It also expects smartphone-related smartphone shipments, as well as the overall number of phones sold, to grow, albeit slowly.
