In 2016, a group of graphic designers started a Facebook group called The Designers Union (TUD), to promote the use of design contracts.
Their goal: make $500,000 in salary.
The group launched its site on March 3, 2017.
By April, it had amassed almost 11,000 members, who collectively were paying an average of $5,000 per month.
To be clear, $500K in salary is not nearly as much as you might be earning from a graphic design job, and that doesn’t even include the time you could spend creating new projects, which could take up to 15 months.
So what exactly makes a designer’s contract so valuable?
Let’s take a look at how the TUD website was designed.
The TUD site looks like a website for a design company.
It lists the graphic designers who have completed their contract, the types of graphic work they have, and how much they are paid.
